The Marvelous Wonderettes Now Showing at ACT

You won’t want to miss Artists Collaborative Theatre’s new cotton-candy colored, non-stop pop musical blast from the past – The Marvelous Wonderettes – showing now through October 4!

Travel back to the 1958 Springfield High School prom and meet the Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts!  While Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy are good friends, a competitive theme emerges when all four girls are announced as candidates for Prom Queen.  Fast forward to their ten year reunion where the girls are a little older, a little wiser and a little bruised by the upheavals of the Rock Revolution.  We learn about their lives and loves, all the while treated to a musical romp down memory lane as the girls perform such show-stopping ‘50s and ‘60s songs as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Leader of the Pack,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “It’s My Party,” and over 20 other classic hits! You’ve never had this much fun at prom and you will never forget The Marvelous Wonderettes!

The Marvelous Wonderettes is written and created by Roger Bean, with Musical Arrangements by Brian William Baker, Orchestrations by Michael Borth, and Vocal Arrangements by Roger Bean & Brian William Baker.  The play is produced by special arrangement with Steele Spring Stage Rights.  It comes to ACT under the direction of Stephanie Richards and stars four talented singer-actors, Tara Buckley as Missy, Emily Chaney as Suzy, Ashley Fleming as Cindy Lou, and Katie Ratliff as Betty Jean.  The production features Elathan Bowling as Richie and light board operator, Zachary Chaney serves as stage manager, and Kaitlyn Howell is sound board operator.

The Marvelous Wonderettes engages the audience with songs, dance, and comedy and features a visually stunning wardrobe design.  Performances will take place at ACT in Elkhorn City now through October 4.  Show times are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm.  The show is rated PG.  Special thanks to the Kentucky Arts Council for their collaboration with ACT!

Tickets are $10 each and available at the door, by calling (606) 754-4228, or online at www.act4.org.  Season passes are available at the box office and on the website for $65.
