Blood Song Now Showing at the Hatfield and McCoy Outdoor Theatre in McCarr, KY

Blood Song: The Story of the Hatfields and McCoys runs tonight through August 3 and August 22 through September 1 at the Hatfield and McCoy Outdoor Theatre in McCarr, KY.  Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 5 pm.
In the late 1800's, the quiet Tug River Valley on the border of West Virginia and Kentucky was rocked by violence, conspiracy, and star-crossed romance.  Go back in time and experience the famous Hatfield & McCoy Feud firsthand, as told by the characters who lived it.
Written by Chelsea Marcantel, Blood Song is the product of a joint effort of the Hatfield & McCoy Arts Council, the Pike County University of Kentucky Extension Office, Pike County Extension Fine Arts, and Artists Collaborative Theatre.  The play tells the entire history of the feud, from Asa Harmon McCoy's murder during the Civil War, to the hanging of Ellison "Cotton Top" Mounts in 1890.  However, unlike most retellings of the feud, this story is told through the narration of some of the lesser known participants of the feud and not by the two family patriarchs: Devil Anse Hatfield and Ran'l McCoy. Telling the story of the feud in this manner, the audience can see a balanced story of the two families.  They witness how each fought to protect and preserve their own and not get caught up in the sensationalism on which the newspapers of the era seemed to focus.
Don't miss this peek into the heart and soul of the feud that has captured the American imagination for over a century.
Tickets are $10 each and are available at the park before each show.  Cash only, please.
